Tethering and Reverse tethering on Android

What is Tethering and Reverse tethering and how we can do it on Android? Lets see-

Tethering
It is basically using Mobile internet on your PC.

How to do it?
- switch on your 3G internet on your mobile.
- then go to settings-> wireless & network settings ->tethering and portable hot spot.
- Now enable USB tethering (if you have to use mobile internet through USB).
- Now you can connect your PC to mobile internet using USB and enjoy internet on PC.
OR
- create Mobile AP by providing SSID, security type & password (if you have to create mobile internet as  wifi hot spot).
- Now you can search wifi n/w through your PC and connect to n/w SSID with the password mentioned in above step.

Reverse Tethering
It is the opposite i.e. using your PC internet on your mobile. Some HTC devices support it by default.

How to do it?
Note - It works only for rooted devices. The most important point.

There can be 3 ways to do this -

1. Lot of configuration -  for this you have to follow this link though I have not tried it-

2. Reverse tether APP - It does above mentioned configuration automatically for you on Android device first time. And from next time on wards, it works on single click and on your mobile, DSL internet from PC will appear as 3G icon. It is paid app but before buying it, you can use its trial version.

3. If you have windows 7 PC, the you can create ad hoc wifi network (http://lifehacker.com/5369381/turn-your-windows-7-pc-into-a-wireless-hotspot) and then can use it on your mobile.
