HDD scan or system defragmenter is a dangerous virus/trojan

System Defragmenter in nowadays being very actively spread as new fake anti-spyware application. As soon as it has penetrated to your PC it will claim availability of various system errors. By the way, these errors are not real in fact. However, if you remove System Defragmenter they will no longer be present on your machine. But if you purchase this rogue it will not benefit your PC at all.

System Defragmenter will prevent you from ability to use your computer as you normally do. Moreover, you may get some threatening messages, such as missing of hard drive, infection of exe files and impossibility to save some important information on your PC.

Just as lots of other fake security applications, System Defragmenter comes to your machine without your knowledge. It will be tuned to be launched with every Windows launch.

To get rid of this - I spent one whole night fighting with this and went through so many forums but anywhere didn't get the exact procedure to remove this shit...

So for the convenience of you people, I am writing down the exact steps I followed to get rid of it -

1. First thing is start your system in "safe mode with networking" otherwise this virus will not allow you to do any installation or removal of infected files
2. Now run msconfig  utility from command prompt.
3. After this stop the services/exe running with rnames like "76869879.exe, or jkhlkjl.exe" like this some random junk character names. Also delete the corresponding files from the path specified (there in services window) and delete all related entries from registry (corresponding path specified in services window).
4. Now download Bit defender from - http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/5969885/BitDefender_2011_All_Products___Trial_Reset_till_2045_%5BRH%5D
5. Restart system and then install bit defender.
6. Now automatically scan would start. Let it run. It would take around 2hrs and then will give you infected files report.
7. Now you can take action on infected files as per bit defender's suggestion. This is the step after which you have got rid from virus.
8. After this again restart system in "safe mode" to run bit defender patch which is license till 2045. for running patch instructions are given on the above link . After this make sure that bit defender is on to avoid future virus attacks.
