Android 4.1 Jelly Bean - features in short

Google has just unveiled new android version 4.1 Jelly Bean at Google IO with lot of exciting features. Lets walk through these changes quickly.

Project Butter - in layman terms, it means now every UI transition on Android would be much smoother & faster. Actually Google made some changes in Kernel for this.

This is a picture i took for the Candy article.
Google Currents, one of best feed/news apps, which shows news/feeds in magazine style will come pre-installed into Android 4.1 accroding to an email from google.

Face unlock will come with "Liveness check" which would require eye blink to provide you access to phone, but still it is in kind of beta phase but yeah improved one. So google has to work more on this still.

Chrome web browser will be the default one on Jelly bean and it will not support Flash.

Google assistant is faster than SIRI of apple, requires less follow up voice interaction to reach to an answer and voice is less robotic. It will no longer require an internet connection, everything you need for voice-to-text and other voice features are embedded into the software

READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE is new permission which provides protected read access to external storage.

Google Now is new virtual assistant from Google which will give you personalized results like you can check the weather, can tell you traffic conditions while going for work, can remind you to have dinner, recommend local restaurants...basically it does contextual search a nd can tell you what to do next.

Notifications have gotten a massive change. Actionable notifications allow you to do way more in the pane than you’ve ever been able to do. For ex - a missed call notification will allow you to call that contact back straight from the notification, You can snooze a calendar alarm from a notification etc.
