Android 4 - ICS Review

Here in this post we are looking at pros and cons of new Android 4 ICS i.e. ice cream sandwich operating system. It has entirely new look and feel, completely revamped and most important update from Google.

Pros
- New skins from Google
- During booting up - new thing is now you can also connect to your google+ account
- Revamped UI (user interface) -

•   new color scheme
•   favorites tray, 
•   resizeable widgets, 
•    virtual navigation buttons on the bottom: back, home and task switcher, 
•    menu button is completely gone

-  New font - roboto
- Lock screen -

•   now you can access notifications bar directly from here, 
•   sliding lock to left takes to camera now and right to standard home screen, 
•   face unlock - but not as secure, it is in initial phase

  - Phone App -

•    quick response feature which means reject a call and fire back a text message immediately
•    icon based tabs on top
•    High resolution photos allowed in contacts tab

 - Gmail -

• an extra line for each email
• reading next email by swiping left or right
• read mail when offline

- Browser -

• save webpages for later view
• incognito mode like chrome
• new look

- Google + hangouts

- Music player - new equalizer, 3d surround, bass boost

- Keyboard - spell check, auto correct features, continuous voice recognition, understand punctuation

- Galleries with photo editor

- Movie studio to create movies with diff effects

- NFC (near field communication) based Android beam which can communicate with another NFC based device and share apps, url, photos, videos etc.

- data monitoring that shows you overall data usage

- Screenshot capturing became easy

- new sensors - ambient temp, relative humidity

Cons

- flash player missing

- Poor facebook integration

- No google wallet yet

- No USB mass storage
